| PBI®
|
Polybenzimidazole
(PBI®) is a high performance polymer fiber.
PBI® was first discovered in the 1950s. In the 1960s, Celanese
developed a dry spinning and polymerization process for a high
temperature resistant PBI® polymer. Following a fire in
an Apollo spaceship in 1967, NASA cooperated with Celanese to
develop PBI® textiles. The fibers were launched in 1983. |

Draper
F344 Tech-Fleece-Draper F344 is a durable and comfortable
shield protecting the wearer from both electric arc and flame
hazards. Because it
is lightweight, it increases workers mobility especially in
tight working conditions. Recent Arc testing done by Kinetric
Inc. with our F344 liner and an 11.3-ounce duck fabric outer
shell gave an impressive 41.4 ATPV. According to the NFPA 70E
Standard for Electrical Safety Requirements for Employee Workplaces,
2000 Edition this high APTV value rates this jacket
in a Hazard Risk Category 4 Protective Clothing System.
Draper F343 Tech-Fleece- Draper
F343 has all the benefits of F344, along with a FR Moisture
Vapor Barrier/Wind break, laminated to the backside of the fabric.
Field trials with this liner and standard outer shells have
shown the wearer to be comfortable down to –10° Celsius.
In lab tests, performed by the Institute for Environmental Research
at Kansas State University, Clo values were measured and compared
for our 6.5 oz/sq yd F343 and a standard 10.5 oz/sq yd quilted
package with a moisture vapor barrier. Both liners were tested
with a Nomex® outer shell. Our F343 provided more Clo per
unit weight than the standard quilted package and actually predicted
that the wearer would be comfortable in working conditions down
to –10° Celsius. |

Draper
Tech-Fleece fabrics work well in combination with a variety
of outer shells (duck fabrics to 100% Nomex®) to create
work wear that provides both protection and comfort to the wearer.
Draper stitchbonded fabrics breathe well and wick away moisture
from the body to help keep the wearer cooler in high temperature
situations.
Easy to work with in cut and sew operations.
