Quality Control conventional Non Woven Circular Knit

We understand the importance of quality control. Whether our fabrics are helping to protect race car drivers or being used in high end paint rollers; our fabrics are made to exact specifications. Our quality team includes everyone in the company, headed by our Quality Control Manager. All our raw materials are checked before being used. Each piece manufactured is examined throughout the process and is individually numbered so that it can be tracked. Depending on the product, we do in-house testing based on ASTM , AATCC, and Federal Test Method Standards 191A.

Draper Knitting got it’s start in knitting in a special way by knitting lace. We no longer knit lace but we still cater to the special needs of our customers. If you need a comfortable protective suit when you drive in the Indy 500, or a warm insert for your lineman’s work jacket, or a serviceable welder’s, miner’s or fireman’s glove, then you will appreciate what we can offer. Our capabilities are in circular knit jersey, terry, 2 yarn fleece, interlockand rib knits. Our weight range starts at 2.7oz/sq on jersey to our heaviest fleece at 20oz/sq. We typically knit with cotton, Kevlar®, wool, Nomex®, polyester, FR rayon, acrylic nylon and blended yarns and have a full range of dyeing and finishing equipment to complete the process. We also have experience coating fabrics with natural and synthetic latexes including neoprene and acrylic.

Stitchbonded is a nonwoven process where we are actually forming a stitch with fibers to form a fabric which has the appearance of a knit fabric at the price of a nonwoven. We have the ability to work with a wide range of fibers, from polyester to Kevlar® and everything in between, in weights ranging from 3 to 8 ounces per square yard. We keep an inventory on hand for our high volume styles and can provide quick delivery on these styles for emergency orders. Custom orders are always welcome and our required minimums are relatively low.

Circular knit pile fabric takes a back yarn and incorporates fibers in sliver form into the back to create a durable and non-pilling fabric. Pile fabric differs from fleece in that fleece is knit with only yarns and then napped to its finished height. Pile fabric uses different length fibers to create different pile heights, therefore, having the ability to achieve much higher pile heights and much heavier fabric densities.

Our current knitting schedule has us knitting everything from a 13oz to a 120 oz pile fabric and all possible oz weights in between. We use both natural fibers and synthetics. Draper Knitting has over 100 years of experience using wool and, therefore, is the natural choice when looking for a wool pile fabric for your needs.

We offer an extensive array of finishing for our pile fabrics from a heat set finish to a very heavy acrylic back coating used in paint roller and buffing pads for stability. We have years of experience providing fabric to the garment and industrial markets and can customize coatings based on the end use of the fabric. We also offer custom slit widths for a variety of end uses from paint rollers to bed pads to animal leg wraps.
